The Faces of Workplace Tragedy
At the heart of every Steps for Life walk, you’ll find the faces, names, and stories of those who have been personally affected by a work-related fatality, life-altering injury, or occupational disease.
Each sign on Memory Lane provides a glimpse into lives forever changed by workplace injury or disease. Spouse, co-worker, child, friend, uncle, or sibling – each face and name represents a “ripple effect” of trauma, grief, and loss that is not truly represented in any statistic.
Threads of Life does not charge to create a memory lane sign. There are, however, costs associated with creating, printing, and shipping these signs to the communities hosting Steps for Life walks. We ask that each family requesting a memory lane sign consider a $100 donation to Threads of Life to help offset this cost, and to ensure that we are able to continue creating these signs for families in the future.
If you have lost a loved one to a workplace tragedy, and would like to share his or her story on a memory lane sign at your local Steps for Life walk, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-888-567-9490. Requests for memory lane signs for the 2018 Steps for Life walks can be made until February 15, 2018.
Please note that to create the sign we do need permission of the worker or their next of kin.
